FI Service Corps began as a service trip in December 2024 to New Orleans amongst a small group of FI friends. They partnered with a disaster recovery nonprofit and spent 3 days painting homes in the lower ninth ward which was the area most devastated by hurricane Katrina in 2005. In addition to volunteering, the group supported local businesses and connected with one another by eating lots of Cajun food, organizing a ChooseFI New Orleans meetup, enjoying live jazz music, and partaking in a ghost and voodoo walking tour of the historic French Quarter.Â
Before, during and after the trip, word spread and an incredible amount of interest was garnered from the FI community. This glowing reception as well as the resounding success of the service trip to New Orleans prompted us to take the leap and work towards formally establishing FI Service Corps as a mission-driven organization that exists to facilitate group volunteer trips and events in service of important charitable causes and local communities.
